Silk Dyeing Process

The Shimmer & Bliss Silk Dyeing Process makes each scarf unique, just like you.

Dip-Dyed Crinkled Air Silk

Each scarf starts off as unfinished raw silk.

All dyes used are low impact dyes, meaning they react fast, they exhaust well and the results are very permanent.

We go through a color chart and decide which colors to mix. Once the colors are mixed with hot water the scarf is soaked in the dye solution for about 10 mins.

After 10 mins the scarf is rinsed with cold water, then conditioned in hot water with a special solution to lock the fibers and give it a soft texture.

After thoroughly rinsing with lavender wash, the scarf is twisted in a spiral formation and left to sun dry. It takes 24hrs + for each scarf to completely dry.

Once the scarf is dry, the twists are pulled apart and your crinkled scarf is ready to be worn.
